The mission of Parents of Murdered Children (POMC) is to make
the difference through on-going emotional support, education, prevention,
advocacy and awareness.
POMC chapters hold monthly support meetings and provide education
and advocacy for homicide survivors. POMC also provides someone
to accompany survivors to court trials. Survivors are offered
emotional support, understanding and advocacy. They may receive
comfort and crisis intervention, if needed.
POMC chapter meetings provide a safe place for survivors to
express their feelings and share their experiences with others
been through the same experiences. Members are given support
through all phases of their tragedy: shock, trauma, grief,
justice system, etc.
Second Opinion Services is a program offered by POMC to provide
second opinions on unsolved or complicated cases. It is made
up of various experts who review cases and medical, law enforcement
and investigative reports. Members may utilize the Second Opinion
Services to help in answering questions or unsolved aspects
POMC publishes a newsletter and hosts an annual National Conference.
Training and consulting is available for professionals who
work with survivors of homicide and are interested in learning
about the devastating effects of murder.
